DescriptionThe mural, of which this image shows one part, includes a portrait of labor leader Samuel Gompers, a group in a classroom symbolizing early efforts at labor education, and, on the right, a scene depicting the planning of Jersey Homesteads, including architect Alfred Kastner and officials of the Farm Security Administration. The figure at the back, Rexford Tugwell, was painted by Bernarda Bryson Shahn. Ben Shahn, the primary artist, was commissioned by the New Deal's Farm Security Administration. Photographed in 1971.
