DescriptionCirca 1848 broadside of Hall’s Brick Machine. In it, Hall claims his machine has produced three hundred million bricks in the last five months. The Brick Machine was on exhibit during the Fair at Hall’s Brick Yard in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Individuals who wished to see the machine in action could catch a ride on the steamboats John Potter, Antelope or Independence. Hall assures visitors that if they visit him they will “not regret the excursion.” By 1848, Hubbell & Abbot of Charlestown, Massachusetts, was making 150,000 bricks per day with Hall’s machine.
