DescriptionA half-day conference was held June 28, 2014, at the Alexander Library of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. The conference focused on New Jersey’s history and present as a state of inventors and inventions with speakers talking about Thomas Edison, Bell Labs and RCA Labs. The present and future of New Jersey invention was epitomized by a presentation on Solidia, a sustainable concrete that uses CO2 rather than water. The product is based on a patented process first invented in Rutgers University’s Materials Science Department. The keynote speaker was Princess Elettra Marconi Giovannelli, the daughter of famed inventor Guglielmo Marconi, who had many ties to the U.S. and to New Jersey., An exhibit and refreshments featuring the many foods invented in New Jersey followed the event.
