DescriptionMy aunt Joyce gave me this quilt; she has lots of quilts from my grandmother Aurora Dingus-Bransford. She said my Grandmother (RoRo) gave it to her. My Grandmother Roro was from Taft, Oklahoma. She went to Hampton University where she met my grandfather Hugh Lawson Bransford. My Aunt Joyce still lives on the property my grandparents owned. My Grandmother RoRo loved all people, traveled the world, spoke different languages, and graduated Hampton University where she met my grandfather Hugh Lawson Bransford. With her college degree, in Maryland, she and my grandfather could only get a job working in white people's homes as a cook and cleaner. She went to the Army base to look for work cleaning, and the person asked her jokingly, Do you know anything about chemistry? Roro said, I majored in chemistry. She graduated from Hampton University as a Home Economics Teacher and retired as a Chemist for the United States Army. In those days when you went to college for home economics you majored in chemistry. How God works in His time.
