Lane Collection - Asher Smith Grocery Store in Pluckemin, circa 1910. 1910. Clarence Dillon Public Library. RUcore:https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T31V5DPV
DescriptionThis modest Greek Revival building was built to be a Dutch Reformed Chapel, later becoming Asher Smith's grocery store. It was located on Main Street (now Route 202/206) Pluckemin, three buildings south of the Presbyterian Church. A buxom beauty offers cigars from a poster in the window, while a sign over the door touts "Dewitt's Little Early Risers", a laxative and cathartic. Block 57 / Lot 15. Photo by Edythe Lane.
