DescriptionThis November 1949, report from the recently formed Displaced Persons Committee recounts the Committee's process and ultimate success in lobbying the Governor to appoint a State Commission on Displaced Persons. The report also includes the Committee's recommendations for the State Commission to follow in providing quality service for displaced persons. The Council for Human Services in New Jersey (formerly known as the New Jersey Welfare Council) was an umbrella group for social welfare agencies and social workers in the state. After the Second World War, the Council focused on helping displaced persons from central Europe who had immigrated to New Jersey.
