DescriptionFrick compressors carried the cooling load at Seabrook, the world's largest quick-freezer. The two-stage refrigerating system with compressors, condensers, brine coolers, room piping, etc., gives dependable and efficient service. Picture taken on April 12, 1954.

Refigeration: Two-stage ammonia booster system. The system started using indirect refrigertion with calcium chloride as the heat transfer medium. The brine system; App. 20 shall & Tube brine coolers, storage tank app. 40' x 60' x 15' pump 7 125HP centrifugal. The brine was pumped from the Engine room to the freezer plates inside the plant keeping the ammonia from the plant area. Later in the 1950s a belt freezer (Lewis) was installed directly expanding ammonia in the coils than Frigoscandia (Flo) freezers.
