DescriptionBlack and white photo postcard of Elks Hall (spelled as Elkes on the postcard) with a postmark date of November 12, 1906. The BPOE Lodge 324 in the postcard was on the upper level of the Rathskeller Restaurant. Possibly a building at Albany and Spring Streets.
Current Elk's building is at the corner of New Street and Livingston Avenue. They moved into this building early in 1926. The lodge was founded November 21, 1895 at a meeting held in the Masonic Temple at the corner of George and Albany Streets. George M. Silzer, later to become New Jersey Governor, was among those appointed to lodge office.
