DescriptionA view of the Nevius Homestead on Somerville Road. The house was built in 1772 on the 235-acre Nevius Farm, and lived in by seven generations of the Nevius family. Some of the support beams are logs still covered with bark. The house was originally a 1 1/2 storey farmhouse. The roof was raised and the house was "Victorianized" when A Layton Nevius married Henrietta Van Dorn, c. 1900. This photo was taken by Col. Fred Field in 1947.
