DescriptionThe Casino was once a popular amusement center on the central Jersey Shore. The original Casino burned to the ground in the 1920's and a new version designed by New York architects Warren and Wetmore opened in 1929. The Casino housed a skating palace, bumper cars, skee ball, a carousel, the Circus Fun House and Mad-O-Rama, a dark fun ride whose entrance was denoted by the wide-open mouth of an unidentifiable creature. Except for a brief period in the late 1990's when the carousel house reopened as a skating park, the structure has been closed since the early 1990's. In late 2006 demolition of the skating palace took place and the boardwalk breezeway was closed to pedestrian traffic.
