DescriptionA history of women painters, beginning with artist Lavinia Fontana of Bologna, through the impressionists, to a number of American artists of the 1900s. Women had difficulty establishing a professional identity, faced prejudice as artists, and were mostly seen as models, wives and mothers of artists.
