DescriptionThis photographic postcard shows the view of the eastern side of Egg Harbor City,NJ. This photographic postcard was taken from the top of the Water Company standpipe located at 6th Terrace and Burger Ave. Immediatly below is the Lafayette Firehouse located on Cincinnati Ave., the current Senior Citizens Center. In the distance on the left, St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church can be seen. In the distance to the right, the Egg Harbor City "Pike" school can be seen. There are also flags on the top of the Welcome Arch which is located across U.S 30 at Lincoln Park.
This photo is thought to have been taken at the time that the Golden Anniversary booklet was being prepared in 1905. A view in the opposite direction, probably taken from the steeple of St. Nicholas Church was printed in the souvenir book and can be found elsewhere in the NJ Digital Highway.
Addtional information mentioned includes this: just below the horizon to the left are a portion of trees and what might be a portion of the school. To the right and across St.Louis Avenue, is the house used by the priest and nuns. The street at the lower left of the center is Buerger Street and Cincinnati Avenue.
