DescriptionThis is a photograph of Miss Townsend's first grade class in the Old Yellow School House in Egg Harbor City, NJ. This photograph was taken in 1955. The school house was a former manufacturing building. It was a yellow stucco building with three classrooms and two restrooms located in the 500 block of Philadelphia Avenue approximately where the parking lot of the apartments is today. The front room was Miss Barne's 2nd grade, the middle room was Miss Devine's Kindergarten and the back room was Miss Townsend's first grade. Each room had its own coal stove for heat. A small hallway, going left and right, inside the main door connected the classrooms.
Miss Townsend's class was in the terrace end of the building facing Philadelphia Avenue.
