DescriptionIn this "I remember" memoir, Hazel Okino Ritchey remembers her mother, Alice Oda Okino. After Hazel's family moved to Seabrook from the Arkansas camp they were interned at, her mother began teaching at the Child Care Center at Seabrook. Later, she attended Glassboro State College for continuing education. Hazel also remembers that her mother was very kind, and Hazel's and her brother's friends would visit their house to spend time with Hazel's mother. The Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center has been soliciting current and past residents of Seabrook Farms for an "I remember" project. Residents are asked to create narratives regarding their experiences at Seabrook Farms. These memories help preserve the history and multi-cultural heritage of Seabrook Farms.
