DescriptionIn this "I remember" memoir, Laye Ikeda Nagahiro recalls a service club she belonged to at Seabrook called "The Colleens." The Colleens were responsible for planning and organizing community events, such as dances and contests. They often received assistance from a boys group called the Hornets. The Colleens also babysat for various families at Seabrook. Ten cents of every dollar each girl earned was donated the club's treasury. The Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center has been soliciting current and past residents of Seabrook Farms for an "I remember" project. Residents are asked to create narratives regarding their experiences at Seabrook Farms. These memories help preserve the history and multi-cultural heritage of Seabrook Farms.
