DescriptionDeed for a part of the land of the late Englebert Steehuijs, first schoolteacher in New Jersey, sold by executors to Gerritt Gerrittsen. Handwritten original in Dutch, with typed transcription and translation into English. Year is written "1688/7" due to conflicting dates for New Year's Day; in English practice the new year began March 25 until 1752, while the Dutch begun using January 1st in 1583.
