DescriptionThe following information and photograph were from a wall display presentation in Egg Harbor City, NJ, in honor of the women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. The museum presentation was prepared for Memorial Day 2001, and remained until the end of the year. The photos were mounted on red construction paper and the narrative placed on white paper stars. Both were mounted on a blue background.
Mildred A. Engelhardt did her boot camp at Camp LeJuene, NC in February 1944. She was transferred to Parris Island, SC where she worked in a Captain's Office of a men's battalion. "I had guard duty with another lady marine once or twice a month. We had to patrol the women's area with a Billy club, usually at 2:00AM to 4:00AM. A Little Scary!" Mildred was discharged in March 1946 as a Corporal from the U. S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve.
