DescriptionThe mural, of which this image shows one part, represents the Triangle Shirtwaist Company Building, site of 1911 fire, which became a symbol of the labor movement; labor leaders including John L. Lewis; planners of Jersey Homesteads; and a series of gates representing the growth and success of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. Ben Shahn, the primary artist, was commissioned by the New Deal's Farm Security Administration. Photographed in 1971.
