DescriptionThis plaque sits at the base of a statue of Jackie Robinson. The statue is in front of the Journal Square Transportation Center and commemorates Jackie Robinson's first minor league baseball game, which was played in Jersey City. Sculpted by Susan Wagner the statue was dedicated February 25, 1998.
Note"A life is not important except for the impact it has on other lives." Jack Roosevelt Robinson. 1919-1972. In 1946, Jack Roosevelt Robinson, the first African-American to break the color barrier in Major League Baseball, played in his first minor league game in Jersey City, New Jersey.
