DescriptionDated from March 18, 1944, this letter is addressed to Edward F. Grimley, Assistant City Clerk, South Amboy, New Jersey, from F. R. Kanter, representing R. D. Leitch, Chief of the Explosives Control Division, Bureau of Mines, United States Department of the Interior. Citing the “administration of the Federal Explosives Act”, the letter mentions an initiative to reduce the number of federal explosives licensing agents in practice. Kanter requests that Grimley return his licensing agent certificate of appointment, as well as, all records and supplies related to this position. The letter clarifies that Philip P. Costello, City Clerk of Perth Amboy, will handle federal explosives licenses henceforth.
