DescriptionThe following information and photograph was from a wall display presentation in honor of the women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. The museum presentation was prepared for Memorial Day 2001, and remained until the end of the year. The photos were mounted on red construction paper and the narrative placed on white paper stars. Both were mounted on a blue background.
Louise Dietz was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from January 1945 to July 1946. She was indoctrinated into the Army life and how to parade while in Atlantic City. She spent 4 months at Fort Dix, NJ, before being sent on to Pearl Harbor, HA. Later, she sailed on the U.S. Hospital Ship Sindai that struggled through a typhoon on the island of Okinawa. Luckily, it was not carrying patients at the time. She went on to Japan and served in an army airborne station hospital.
