DescriptionFormerly part of the Palace of Whitehall, This house was initially planned to be part of the Palace but the but the tensions that led to the Civil War intervened. In 1685 the Banqueting House became the first building in England to use crown glass windows. The isolated position of the house saved it from being destroyed during the fire of Whitehall during which the Palace was destroyed. It was designed by Inigo Jones and realized with the help of John Webb.
