DescriptionIn this "I remember" memoir, Helen Cubberley recalls the time her family spent at Seabrook Farms in the early 1940s. Her husband, Victor, was an office manager for Seabrook, while Helen worked for the State of New Jersey by collecting crop samples. She worked closely with German prisoners of war, and recalls the conditions of their camps. She remembers two German men who were artists, and one painted a mural that hung for a long time in the nearby Ye Old Centeron Inn. The Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center has been soliciting current and past residents of Seabrook Farms for an "I remember" project. Residents are asked to create narratives regarding their experiences at Seabrook Farms. These memories help preserve the history and multi-cultural heritage of Seabrook Farms.
