DescriptionI had made several quilts by the time I made this one, however, I had used a sewing machine and strip piecing techniques. I wanted to learn how to make one purely by hand. I enrolled in a class at the Montclair Historical Society, my first contact with the organization, and learned traditional piecing and applique techniques. I hand quilted it and even tried trapunto (stuffed) quilting. In a weird quirk of fate, 20 years later, I am now director of the Montclair Historical Society.
