DescriptionThe Lemoyne Star Quilt Block, an eight pointed star, is one of the traditional quilt blocks used in star quilt patterns. The earliest published date for this pattern was in 1911. Diamonds and squares from fabrics were assembled with “Y” seams to complete a block. For this quilt, instead of a collection of varied smaller blocks, four large 24” blocks were made using batik fabrics in shades of gold, orange, aqua, brown and cream. The subtle colors in the batik fabrics were the inspiration for this quilt design. Each block was quilted separately using the Quilt As You Go (QAYG) method, then joined together with a medium brown, narrow sashing strip. A narrow binding of the same color was used to finish the quilt.
