In 1783, the mansion was sold to Colonel Charles Stewart, the commissary General of Washington's Revolutionary Forces. During this period, White House Farm was visited by General George Washington, General Gates, General Kosciusko, John Hancock and Alexander Hamilton as guests of Colonel Stewart.
