DescriptionThe Bishop Janes Tabernacle sits in the historic Camp Grounds district of Ocean Grove. Constructed in 1877 at the cost of $2,362.85, the tabernacle continues to host prayer meetings and various religious gatherings. The tabernacle seats approximately 1,000 people on flat wooden benches. It was named in honor of Bishop Edmund S. Janes who gave the dedication sermon for Ocean Grove's St. Paul's Church. The building is referred to as the "powerhouse of the Camp Meeting" due to it's round shape reminiscent of a generator.
