Stephen Selover (William S. Stryker's Record of Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Civil War, 1861-1865, show him as Stephen Slover) was born in Middlesex County, NJ, and worked as a laborer prior to the war. He was enrolled in Co. K, 28th NJV on September 2nd, 1862, for a 9 month term, and was mustered in on September 22nd, 1862. He transferred to Co. B, 28th NJV on January 1st, 1863, and was mustered out on July 6, 1863.
