DescriptionNathan and Miriam Barnert Memorial Hospital, 164 Broadway, was formally opened in 1916, through the generous donation of 16 city lots and $450,000.00 from Nathan Barnert. He opened the facility "for the medical and surgical care of the sick, regardless of their race, creed, or nationality." The hospital allowed Jewish and Italian doctors the privilege to practice in Paterson, when other hospitals would not, circa 1925.
