DescriptionThis quilt is dedicated to my beloved grandmother Isabella Josephine (Carey) Grunderway, nee Marsh (1910-2000). The gospel song “Oh Happy Day” was one of Nana’s favorites, and thus the name of this quilt. The rainbow colors in this quilt make me happy and remind me of the joy my grandmother spread to all those around her. The color yellow is intentionally absent as it represents the sun and daylight, and Nana sleeps now, forever. The butterflies on the back represent the beauty of her person and spirit still touching all those who knew her, every day. I selected an open geometric quilting pattern to remind me of freedom.
