DescriptionJames Hood, Mayor of Bridgeton, proclaims April 19, 1865, as a day of mourning for Bridgeton citizens, in response to the assasination of President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, by John Wilkes Boothe at the Ford Theater in Washington. Mayor Hood calls for businesses to close, and for members of all religious denominations to meet at noon for prayer services.
