William H.B. Drake was born in Somerset County, NJ, and worked as a mechanic prior to the war. He was enrolled on September 2nd, 1862, for a 9 month term, and was mustered in on September 22nd, 1862. He was mustered out on July 6, 1863. He was most likely an inhabitant of Middlesex County during the war, as his wife received subsistence pay from the County of Middlesex.
