DescriptionPaterson Alms House, 217 Redwood Avenue, circa 1899. The Alms House was the subject of an article in Frank Lesile’s Illustrated Newspaper, August 24, 1867, for the horrors and mistreatments of inmates under the direction of Isaac J. Sigler, keeper. In 1915, the five-story tower would be used by the fire department's training school.
