NoteFrom an album of photographs from Shizuoka, Japan, Views of Shidzuoka (known in Japanese as 静岡風景) compiled in 1873 by Edward Warren Clark (1849-1907), classmate of W. E. Griffis, who taught in Shizuoka from 1871-1873. The album in the W. E. Griffis Collection was given by Clark to Margaret Maggie Griffis in July 1873 as A Souvenir of Shidzuoka. Another album with 24 photographs given to Katsu Kaishū (勝海舟) in 1873 is currently held in the Waseda University Library, Tokyo (https://archive.wul.waseda.ac.jp/kosho/ru04/ru04_04240/ru04_04240.html).
