DescriptionBylaws, board and committee minutes and files, case files, agenda, statistics, subject and reference files, and other records of Jewish welfare agencies, primarily working out of Essex County, N.J. Includes records of Jewish Child Care Association and Jewish Family Service Association of Essex County which merged in 1961 to form the Jewish Counseling and Service Agency. The Jewish Counseling and Service Agency became the Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, New Jersey in 1985 and serves Essex, Morris, Susses, North Union, and parts of Hudson county. The immigrant case files make up the largest part of the collection (around two-thirds); these files are on families who immigrated (primarily) to Essex County, N.J. and receieved assistance from the Jewish Family Service.
