DescriptionThis report of minutes from the October 28, 1949, Displaced Persons Committee meeting in Newark, records the Committee's plans for lobbying the New Jersey state government to create a State Commission on Displaced Persons. The Committee, a subgroup of the New Jersey Welfare Council, also reviews current local services available for displaced persons. The Council for Human Services in New Jersey, formerly known as the New Jersey Welfare Council, was an umbrella group for social welfare agencies and social workers in the state. After the Second World War, the Council focused on helping displaced persons from central Europe who had immigrated to New Jersey.
