DescriptionJersey Homesteads (later Roosevelt) was established in the 1930s as an agro-industrial cooperative community. It was established specifically for urban, Jewish garment workers, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. This memorandum, issued by the Department of the Interior, provides the details for the organization of Jersey Homesteads, including the number of people who will live there, the type of work the people will perform, the layout of the community, and the members of the Board of Directors.
