DescriptionThe Council for Human Services in New Jersey, formerly known as the New Jersey Welfare Council, was an umbrella group for social welfare agencies and social workers in the state. After the Second World War, the Council focused on helping displaced persons from central Europe who had immigrated to New Jersey. This report gives background information on numbers and origins of displaced persons. It discusses the Wiley Bill legislation for displaced persons, as well as describes the different charity and social services organizations in New Jersey that are working with refugees.
