DescriptionThis book provides a socialist/communist viewpoint of labor unions and strikes in various manufacturing industries throughout northeastern New Jersey. Weisbord describes the poor living and working conditions of blue-collar immigrant workers that precipitated strikes in the Paterson area. He also critiques reactions from politicians, law enforcement, and manufacturing owners. He concludes that Paterson's efforts at union organization could serve as a successful model for other threatened workers to follow.
