Prohibition party propaganda pamphlet: Objections Answered: Ought I to Sign a Petition for a No-License Election? Ought I to Vote 'Dry'?. Retrieved from https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T3QR4VKP
DescriptionThis leaflet responds to a number of reasons why people choose not to support state prohibition, by tearing apart the logic behind the reasons and making a mockery of them. This leaflet contains a number of references to specific ethnic groups and religions, and is a reflection of the mounting tension between the different immigrant cultures in their differing perceptions of alcohol consumption. The reasons that are rebutted are that national prohibition should be supported but not local prohibition, neighboring towns are not supporting prohibition, respect for saloonkeepers, and the license fee that would be gained from local saloons.
