DescriptionLocated on Rancocas-Burlington Rd., this house has double markings: E. G. S. 1765 for Elkington, George and Sarah and B.J.S. 1835 for Borton, Joseph S. The east portion was built by a grandson of the immigrant Elkington who came to this country as an indentured servant and became the progenitor of a prominent line of descendants. The dates and initials are painted on the east end of the older portion and the Borton addition is tabulated thereon also. Marks of the original pent roof are shown under the present porch. The glazed brick has been covered by stucco which also probably hides the ancient date marking. Extended bricks are noticeable at floor levels. Interior has been somewhat modernized, but still has some antique hardware.
