The Paterson Messenger (Il Messaggero) and Chronicle

Il Messaggero, later The Messenger

Il Messaggero, later The Messenger

Il Messaggero, originally published in Italian, evolved into The Messenger, in English.  It began publication in 1904, primarily serving the second-generation Paterson Italian-American community.  The Sunday Chronicle, originally a weekly newspaper, suspended publication in 1942 and began again in 1951 as a weekly magazine, the only one in Northern New Jersey.
