porject title: Chinese Exclusion in New Jersey: Immigration Law in the Past and Present

This exhibit focuses on the period of Chinese Exclusion that lasted from 1882-1943. Under the guidance of Rutgers Professor, Andy Urban, student curators conducted original research examining the history of Chinese immigration to New Jersey under the Exclusion laws. This exhibit represents the culmination of a semester-long exploration into the role that immigration laws and policies have played - and continue to play - in shaping the United States as a nation. At the heart of this exhibit is the question: what represents a fair and just approach to immigration?
